Come Ties Course Records
Many years ago at Abitibi Golf Club in Iroquois Falls, Ontario, I had the distinct pleasure of witnessing a miraculous feat on a golf course. I was lucky enough to see a golfer shoot a 28 for nine holes, an accomplishment that is rarely seen at any skill level. It was such a perfect round of golf that I thought it would never be equalled again. Well I was wrong. Guy Come did it again at his home club of Abitibi.
There are two types of course records at nine hole tracks, there is your usual 18-hole course record and then there is the less talked about 9-hole record. In my experience, only 9-hole courses tend to pay attention to that accomplishment. The records in question at Abitibi Golf Club are 28 (-7) for 9-Holes and 63 (-7) for 18-Holes.
Guy Come tied both of these records in one round of golf on one special day in June. The round featured a couple of unexpected eagles on holes # 2 (Par 5) and #6 (Par 4), both of which on the front nine.
We asked Guy to comment on some of the highlights of his round.
We also asked Guy if there were any shots he wanted back??
Guy joins local shooters Dave Thomas and Wayne Parent to be the only ones to shoot the elusive 63.
We hoped Guy could comment on how it felt to shoot this great score and what it takes to post such a great round of golf?
On behalf of Northern Swing Golf Centre and all its staff we want to congratulate Guy Come on shooting course records 28 and 63 at Abitibi Golf Club in June 2009.
We encourage all of those who are fortunate to shoot or even witness great accomplishments such as this, to please contact us at 705-360-8988 or write us a message at the following link http://www.northernswing.ca/contact.html
